BLUE CULTURE HUB E-LIBRARY AND E-COURSES

The Decentralised Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and Ionian, is pleased to announce that the e-library of the Blue Culture Hub is now available online, on http://elibrary.nmp-zak.org/#hero. The e-library is hosted to the HUB portal at: http://blueculturehub.nmp-zak.org. The initiative was organized in the framework of the project “Climate-Smart Coastal Practices for Blue Governance”-BLUECOAST, funded by the Interreg IPA CBC Cross-Border Cooperation Programme “Greece – Albania 2014 – 2020”. The project is coordinated by the Management Agency of Zakynthos National Marine Park and it is implemented in collaboration with the Decentralized Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Ionian University, the National Coastline Agency of Albania and the Municipality of Himara. A wealth of resources related to climate change, the protection of the biodiversity, Caretta caretta conservation, maps and multimedia focusing on the study area of the BlueCoast project is now available to every citizen, scientists, teachers, local authorities and environmental, cultural and educational organizations and the general public. The resources are divided in four categories: 1) Publications – Reports, 2) Educational – Informational Material, 3) Multimedia and 4) Maps – Infographics. The e-library provides accessibility to digital resources such as e-books, reports, videos, thematic maps, databases and more which can be downloaded in order to provide important information for the challenges and activities regarding maritime environment. The aim is to constantly update the e-library with the most recent scientific publications and informational material as well as to keep informed the society on the latest efforts and results of the implemented environmental projects to the target areas.

In addition, the Decentralised Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and Ionian, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the e-learning program “Climate Change and Blue Growth”. The 2-month e-course run for 2 cycles and it was delivered in English, Greek and Albanian language. The interest was great; 267 participants followed the e-courses!

The e-learning program was part of the Blue Culture Hub initiative. The Blue Culture Hub seeks to provide the wider society with the information on current environmental challenges which gradually become more and more part of our daily life as well as with the vision for a transition to a climate-smart society and the achievement of a resilient future for blue growth. The Hub support initiatives that promote “blue culture”. It involves how culture can be a powerful tool for the sustainable growth and the protection of the environment, through the mobilization of every citizen and the wider society.
